Lessons learned from Gordon Ramsay

Mar 22, 03:29 PM | Comment [1]

I’ve been loving Gordon Ramsay’s kitchen nightmares series’ (the British ones were much better than the American ones – much less ‘reality TV’ shenanigans).

Each week Ramsay helps a struggling restaurant to turn things around, always with the same basic method of combining determination, attitude and drive with keeping things simple, manageable and meaningful to the customers.

The show got me thinking about how these principles can be applied so similarly to the principles of good web design and running a small business. That’s when I noticed this post and this post from the guys at 37 Signals. So rather than me banging on about it I’d urge you to read those.

Art, Sensis and yet more Telstra web work!

Dec 10, 08:06 PM Comment

I know, I know… I’ve been a bit quiet of late on the old weblog front, but I’ve got a (feeble) excuse – I’ve been mega busy! – which is a bit unusual for the December/January silly season, but hey, I’m not complaining!

I can’t give too much away yet about what I’ve been working on ‘cause I’m sworn to secrecy and can’t ruin the impending launches, but watch this space for full details as they emerge…

Target accessibility lawsuit given class action

Oct 9, 01:27 PM Comment

The legal case against Target in the US has been in the headlines again this week as a federal judge in has just granted “class action status” to the lawsuit.

MODM

Aug 3, 11:07 AM

I caught up with a couple of mates, Chris (of Docoloco fame) and Phil last night for a beer and to see what these MODM meet-ups are all about. Neither of us had been before and it sounded interesting so we all braved the cold and set off for a look-see.

Organised by Cameron Reily and Simon Chen, last night’s event was held at Riverland which is a great little venue on the Yarra underneath Federation Square. The idea is for anyone interested in online digital media to get together, have a bit of a chat and share ideas. Yesterdays included a presentation from Robert and Mark Gabriel about their new search site/plugin, MyLiveSearch which sounded interesting and has apparently been getting a bit of interest in the media of late. The beta is due out some time soon so watch this space…
