Judging the International Web Awards

I’m delighted to announce that I have been asked to be one of the judges in this years’ International Web Marketing Association WebAwards web design competition.

Now in its 12th year, the WebAwards is the premier annual website award competition that names the best Web sites in 96 industries while setting the standard of excellence for all website development.

It’s an honor to have been called upon to contribute to the judging of the competition this year. Stay tuned for the results!

Google local business listing problems

It works really well and if you do a search for “Web Designer Melbourne” up I pop.

Subliminal advertising during the ARIA's

Did anyone else notice those short, subliminal adverts for KFC during the ARIA’s last night? They flashed on-screen for a second between each artist as the nominations were read out.

I’m not sure I like it. Aussie telly’s already plagued by too much advertising without these intrusive stealth tactics.

MODM

I caught up with a couple of mates, Chris (of Docoloco fame) and Phil last night for a beer and to see what these MODM meet-ups are all about. Neither of us had been before and it sounded interesting so we all braved the cold and set off for a look-see.

Organised by Cameron Reily and Simon Chen, last night’s event was held at Riverland which is a great little venue on the Yarra underneath Federation Square. The idea is for anyone interested in online digital media to get together, have a bit of a chat and share ideas. Yesterdays included a presentation from Robert and Mark Gabriel about their new search site/plugin, MyLiveSearch which sounded interesting and has apparently been getting a bit of interest in the media of late. The beta is due out some time soon so watch this space…

Finally this new site gets to see the light of day.

Just like a builder’s house is never finished, so too is the online presence of a web design studio in a constant state of almost-completeness. There’s no job harder than building your own site, especially when there’s client work to be done!
