Benjamin Tollady Design helped Wayne Deakin stay in touch with his fans and build on his growing reputation as one of Melbourne’s premier comedians with a cleanly designed site powered by the Textpattern CMS.

Wayne Deakin is a popular comedian based in Melbourne, Australia. A regular headliner at all Australian comedy venues, Wayne also tours constantly throughout the USA and Canada. He is also known as ‘Deaks’, performing weekly on the top rating ‘Hughsey & Kate’ breakfast show on Nova 100 in Melbourne and is a hugely successful corporate entertainer, having done gigs for a range of clients such as Cadbury Schweppes and Krispy Kreme.

Wayne approached Benjamin Tollady Design with the need for a clean, professional site that, while reflecting his likable laconic style, would serve to convey the level of professionalism required by his corporate clients. Furthermore, Wayne wanted to be able to update the site himself with news and images and was keen that the site be as accessible to search engines as possible to ensure good search results and page ranking.

Clean design, professional image

A clean, simple black & white colour scheme was chosen for the site which helps to project a professional feel and compliments the use of imagery depicting Wayne in formal dress. Touches of bright green were used to add interest and highlight content headings.

Wayne Deakin website navigation detail

I chose to employ a serif font (Georgia) across the site and make use of a floral pattern detail within the navigation area to reinforce the corporate entertainer theme.

Standards-compliant, semantic code development

The site was built by hand, using clean, semantic standards-compliant code before integrating a Textpattern CMS to allow Wayne complete control of his site content, which he is able to update and edit with ease.
